eCargo Newsletter - April 2011

Friday, 1 April 2011 by Tim Strawbridge

Well what a busy start to the year! The eCargo team kicked straight into the first quarter with a new Premium release and a migration to new webservers. We had a few teething issues with the new servers, and we thank you for your patience, however we now have a more robust environment to deliver better performance and reliability to our customers.

Reverse Logistics

Managing returns can be a problematic task, particularly when it comes to having visibility over return consignments.

The new Return feature in eCargo allows you to easily create a return from the originating consignment. This means your carriers have immediate visibility over your returns, in the same way they can view your outwards goods.

Once created returns can be easily identified.

Upcoming Features and Improvements

Business Administration

As we deliver more freight management features the complexity of managing your master data and business rules also increases. The current screens to manage your data are very limited, with much of the task falling on the eCargo Support team. We've decided to give this area a bit of a shakeup and provide you with better tools to manage your data.

Over the next 3-6 months you'll see new functions appearing in the Admin menu. These will include screens to:

  • Manage your business sites, customers and users.
  • Maintain your destinations, including address details.
  • Setup new and update existing carriers, including priority and auto-assign rules for your business sites, customers and destinations.

Undo and Rollbacks

One of the new features recently released is the ability for you to 'rollback' the status of a job. For example if a job has been mistakenly dispatched, use the Rollback Status option to Undispatch the job so it can either be withdrawn or altered before being dispatch again.

If a job has been mistakenly cancelled (Withdrawn), use the Unwithdraw option to re-instate the job. You can find more details in our release notes here.
